Monument/Woodmoor IP

Monument/Woodmoor is just north of the Air Force Academy, with Pike National Forest, rolling plains and rocky foothills as its natural borders on the other three sides. It was originally established by homesteaders in 1865 and became a stop on the Rio Grande Railroad in 1872. The railroad brought commerce and more settlers, and the town of Henry’s Station was established, later to be renamed Monument, after the nearby Monument Creek and Monument Rock.

Monument boasts a quaint downtown and thriving small business scene, as well as larger shopping centers with “big-brand” stores like Walmart and Home Depot. The restaurant scene has a local flare. It is also very convenient to Denver, which broadens entertainment and amenity options, as well as, employment opportunities for the inhabitants.

This is a very family-friendly area with a historic, small-town feel, though it is rapidly growing. Being in the foothills, you will find some neighborhoods and homes on an incline, amongst forested land and mature landscaping and others are on flatter ranges. Many homes have views of either Pikes Peak or the Front Range. An assortment of home styles can be found, and coexisting with wildlife is a part of life in this area. Monument is classified as a suburb, with most homes built between 1970-1990 and larger homes in abundance.
